Translate PS5 subtitles on Android TV with Lensor
Lensor translates readable PS5 dialogue subtitles on compatible televisions with built-in Android TV or Google TV. You keep playing on the console’s HDMI picture, without keeping a phone, tablet or computer running translation during gameplay.
Does my phone need to stay active while I play?
No. Lensor TV runs subtitle recognition and the translation app on the television. Your phone opens the QR setup panel; once pairing is complete, it does not need to stay active for translation. No tablet, computer or capture card is needed either. The TV and connection requirements below still apply.
Where does translation happen?
Lensor runs on the television. A background Remote Play connection supplies frames for subtitle recognition. Lensor translates the detected dialogue and displays the result over the HDMI game picture. You do not need to point a phone camera at the screen or run a translation computer beside your TV.
Scan the QR code on the TV to continue setup on your phone instead of typing and signing in with the TV remote. Once paired, the phone does not perform translation and does not need to stay active during gameplay.
Requirements
- A compatible television with built-in Android TV or Google TV and permission to display the subtitle overlay.
- A PS5 connected to that television via HDMI.
- TV and console on the same local network, with Remote Play enabled.
- A separate PSN account for the Lensor connection; use your main account to play.
- The setup panel opened on your phone via the TV’s QR code, to make text entry easier.
- Readable in-game dialogue subtitles in a supported source language.
TV boxes, TV sticks and Chromecast do not support this overlay onto a console’s separate HDMI input. Samsung Tizen and LG webOS are different operating systems. Manufacturer-specific permission and HDMI behaviour matter, so the operating-system name alone is not a compatibility guarantee.
Setup in four steps
- Install Lensor from Google Play on the television.
- Read the in-app disclosures, grant the required permission and scan the TV’s QR code to open the phone setup panel and pair your PS5 using a separate PSN account.
- Select supported source and target languages and adjust subtitle size and position.
- Enable in-game dialogue subtitles, start translation and return to the console’s HDMI input.
Follow the step-by-step setup guide for the pairing details.
What if I use a PS4?
Lensor TV supports PS4 and PS5. PS4 also requires a compatible television, the same local network, Remote Play and pairing with a separate PSN account. Your phone does not need to stay active for translation during PS4 gameplay either.
Does it translate every game and every word?
Lensor TV focuses on dialogue subtitles. It is not a promise of translated menus, scoreboards, every interface label or dubbed audio. Font, size, position, source language and contrast can affect recognition. Compatibility with every game and television is not guaranteed.
English-to-Turkish is the example in the Turkish guide. For another language, check the source and target choices in the app. Do not assume that every writing system is supported.
Internet access and pricing
The default local translation engine needs an initial language-model download. After that, local translation takes place on the device; the local network connection to the console is still required. Optional cloud engines send detected text to the selected provider. See the store and in-app screens for current prices, purchase options and provider terms.
Playing on Mac or Windows?
Lensor’s macOS and Windows versions translate readable text on the computer screen regardless of its source. An Xbox picture, Remote Play, a movie file or another app can supply the content; the desktop versions are not limited to PS4/PS5 or game subtitles. The content and translation are both on the computer screen. See the desktop versions.
